Four Steps to Winning Big at Online Casinos

Gambling is all about playing the odds. Although the house generally comes out on top, if you employ a good strategy, you can increase your chances of coming out ahead. This is the case not only in regular casinos, but on online casinos as well. The same rules apply. The only difference is that with online casinos, you can risk your funds in the comfort of your own home.

If you like to win big playing at online casinos, follow the easy steps below. In the end, you will have improved your odds to come away the big winner of the day.

Pick Games With the Best Odds

Not all casinos games are created equally. Some have a higher chance of paying out to the house rather than to the player. When you are looking for online casino games, look for the house edge number. The house edge is the average percentage of money that the house keeps from each bet.

Therefore, if you spend a total of $100 on a game that has a house edge of 2%, the house will earn $2 on those bets on average. That includes not just the money you started with, but any money that you won and bet with again during the course of the game. For best results, choose microgaming casinos with games that have the lowest house edge.

Read the Directions

Novice gamblers will start playing a game without really knowing how to play it. They assume that all poker games are the same even though each has its own set of unique rules. Never make this rookie mistake. Instead, improve your odds of winning big by reading and understanding the full instructions for each game you play. This way, when you start to play, you will not waste money learning the ropes.

Read Strategy Guides

There are strategies and tricks to playing online casino games beyond just reading the directions presented by the casino. Band websites devoted to tips and tricks can help you win big in these games. As you look for strategy guides, make sure that you are getting one that is specific to the game you are playing. A guide for classic blackjack will not be helpful for a game of European blackjack, for instance.

Avoid websites that encourage cheating. Not only is cheating ethically and morally wrong, online casinos also have software that monitors cheaters. If you get caught, you could be risking a lot more that just your opening bet.

Step Away

The number one strategy for winning big in an online casino is to step away when you get a huge jackpot. Although you may be tempted to keep pushing your luck once you win the grand prize, remember that the casino has the better odds. If you get lucky, take it as a sign to walk away with a wad of cash.

The Basics of Sports Betting

The forefathers of the United States were drawn to the excitement of risk-taking, which is why they were attracted to all forms of gambling. For every sport played, there was always someone out there who was willing to wager on it.

Beginnings of Sports Betting in the US

The early colonists brought their love for gambling to the United States where its tradition began in England. Sports betting served as a form of leisure and entertainment among the early Americans, and also a source of revenue for some. Its humble beginnings began with people betting on rough and ready horse races, cockfights and bare-knuckle fights.

Back in the 1800s, horse racing was the most popular in sports betting that was only enjoyed by the elite. After the Civil War however, horse tracks began to spring up and participants in gambling represented all economic sectors.

Poolcards to Parlay Cards

In the later part of the 19th century, the popularity of Baseball and wagering on the sport increased. The modern day parlay cards used to be known as poolcards. Gamblers were offered endless betting options for as little as 10 cents. These poolcards had a catch where the chances were twisted in the houses’ favor.

Because of this, bookies were the only ones gaining profit from the bet over a period of time. Nonetheless, the cards were popular during the Great Depression since they offered hopes of bringing financial rewards to players.

Sports Betting Over the Ages

In the 1920s (or the Golden Era of Sports), more people were interested in college sports like football and basketball.  These two sports soon equaled baseball as popular betting activities.

Wagers were placed by means of odds. This is known as “betting with the money line”. This practice is still used today. The trouble with the money line is that there was a disparity over college basketball and football games where gamblers would bet on the same team. Bookmakers didn’t want incidences like these.

Point spread came out in the 1940s and changed the face of sports gambling forever. Point spread is described as a handicap placed on the anticipated winner of the game via points. 1950s television made it more convenient for people to watch the games. Sports gambling made it big on TV during those years.

Trends in Sports Betting Now and the Future

Point spread and money line are forms of sports gambling that still take place today. Book makers have been innovative with other means of betting like parlays and teasers.

A new sports gambler must find somebody to accept their sports wagers. Bets can be placed through bookies or online sportsbooks which are trouble-free and convenient to use.

Gambling: Traditional Versus Online

Over the past years, gambling has already been considered as a profitable industry, and business executives have found several ways they can expand their empires. Aside from the different strategies that make actual gambling a hit, they even tried how online gambling would perform versus actual gambling . And so far, it seems to be doing well in terms of patronage and popularity.

Gambling is not a new concept at all. It is safe to say that gambling is as old as any sport known to man, since betting for who wins a challenge is actually a crucial element of gambling. However, gambling has taken two images nowadays – one that you can actually see and feel with your five senses, and one that you access through a computer and Internet connection.

Traditional and online gambling are not entirely different from one another but there are elements that make them unequal. To compare the two better, you need to understand the basics of each.

Traditional Gambling

Traditional gambling is basically done within an actual, land, gaming venue. The players interact with each other on a personal level, play card and slot games using tangible tools, peripherals and equipment. Traditional gambling has three basic types: random games, slot games (gaming machines) and table games. In this type of gambling, the player needs to use actual cash that is converted to chips that come in various denominations. The chips are used for the card and table games. Meanwhile, the slot machines require real coins.

Online Gambling

On the other hand, online gambling offers the luxury of playing casino games virtually. This is ideal for those who do not have a lot of extra time to visit gambling houses or casinos. Online gambling and gaming sites offer online versions of the games that you would normally play in a casino. Online gambling is categorized into two: one that requires the download of particular software and one that is played directly through the website.

The Verdict

Both these forms of gambling possess advantages and disadvantages. Online gambling takes away the excitement and hype that traditional gambling typically offers. With online gambling, the chance of meeting new friends and socializing with old ones (personally) is also absent.  However, it does not require you to dress accordingly and drive for miles. You can further justify which one will work well for you by researching about it by reading articles and posts on gambling articles sites and even online library websites.

Betting Strategy on Playing Card Games

Playing cards has always fascinated people all over the world. When you can make some money just by looking at some cards and outsmarting either a dealer or other players, it’s very easy to get excited by the prospects of the win. Of course, just rushing in without a plan is a recipe for poverty, so you need to think carefully.

When you play casino games, you need to think beyond just desperately doubling your bet every time you don’t win. Occasional losses are to be expected, because it’s statistically impossible to win all the time. But the real test of the kind of gambler you are isn’t how often you win. It also comes down to how effectively you can deal with a loss. If you can keep your cool when the chips are literally down, you can do a lot with your card games.

There are many gambling strategies you can look up online. With the Martingale approach, you double the bet every time you lose. One win, even after a string of losses, and you’re back to even.

Another strategy asks you to double the first two, if you win. This guarantees you are playing with the casino’s money. If you continue winning, increase your wager by the amount of your original bet. So, if your first bet was $10, that turns into $40 after two winning hands. Increase your bet to $20 the next hand and then to $30 as long as you keep winning. After 10 hands, you will have won $300. Try these or other strategies at 32 Red Casino and see what works best for you.

Think about it, is there anything that you can’t gamble on these days? With a world-wide explosion in technology and especially the growth of sports globally, there are a whole new drove of participants experiencing the world of betting.

The Wimbledon tennis tournament started in late June and you can bet the odds-makers are having a field day determining if Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovich is going to win the tournament. While the summertime usually creates a bit of a lull in sports gambling, European events like the Tour De France, Wimbledon and even the Women’s World Cup are sure to spur epic activity.

Even if the National Football League doesn’t get their labor negotiation squabble settled, the world of gambling will pick up with the onset of college football. As young people attain a legal gambling age, the world of sports wagering is always picking up new participants. Young people that follow the University of Nebraska are sure to bet in the Midwest, while young people that follow the San Diego Chargers are likely to incur betting in the western United States.

As the NCAA men’s basketball tournament unfolds in 2012, betting pools picking the fortunes of the bracket will surface all across the country. Young people will start their own pools, friends and family will continue their old pools and the cycle of gambling will be dispersed to a whole new generation. Gambling and wagering are not going away, in fact they are big business as people try their hands in the ultimate games of chance.

Gambling Addiction has Devastating Effects

It’s hard to imagine losing everything you ever worked for in a game of cards. While losing everything is rare, gambling addiction is a major problem for millions across the world.

Gambling addiction is often referred to as the silent disease. Very few spouses or friends and family members have any idea their loved one has a problem, before the problems surface in ugly financial ways. Even for an extreme gambling addict, the family will never know of a problem because the gambler keeps their problem and the accompanying financial woes a secret until it is too late.

Probably the biggest effect of gambling addiction is that of financial downfall. For people that have millions of dollars in the bank, losing 100-thousand is no big deal. For someone that makes 50-thousand per year, the effects of gambling will be much more severe. Many addicts mortgage their future by maxing out credit cards in the hopes that one big win will get them over the top on their way to a big payout.

When credit cards get maxed out, and without any viable way to pay them off, people’s credit can be forever ruined. It takes years, if not an entire decade to dig out of bad credit situations, and gambling addicts often face these consequences as they move through life.

There is a reason the house always wins, and for anyone with an addictive personality, it’s best to dabble very little or dabble not at all. Maybe it’s the shiny lights or the constant sound of winning throughout the casino, but gambling addiction has proven to be real and extremely powerful.

Which Casino Games Give you the Best Odds of Winning?

Card Counting

Ever wonder why a town like Las Vegas continues to build new and extravagant hotels and casinos? The house always wins would be as good an answer as any as why the town of Las Vegas continues to make money.

While Casinos generally make good money, there are some games that give you the player, slightly better odds of winning.

Casino poker
: Generally when poker players are competing in a tournament, they are competing against each other and not the house. While the house takes a small amount per hand, the players competing against each other are the big winners and losers. Even having a slight knowledge of poker should give you better odds of winning against players who are just beginning.

Blackjack: While it is discouraged to count cards during the game of blackjack, it is also a common practice. When counting cards during blackjack, the player has a 1-2 percent advantage over the casino. While not illegal, card counters should practice their skills at home, and then be able to hide their skills while playing.

Video poker
: Okay, so no mention of slot machines so far but those video poker games can be productive if you really know how to play the game you’ve chosen. Video poker machines typically have a number of games to choose from like Deuces Wild, Poker or Blackjack. Choose the game that matches your intellectual skill set, and you might just walk away a winner.

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason as to why the odds favor certain players. Play more and your chances of winning and losing are certainly greater.

Signs you may Have a Gambling Problem

Credit cards

Is it worse to be addicted to drugs or to be addicted to gambling? Certainly neither addiction is a good one, but while a drug addiction can put someone in the poor house over a period of time, a gambling addiction can have devastating effects in just a matter of moments.

Gambling is known as the ‘hidden illness’ because there are no physical signs like you would normally see with a drug addict. Some signs you may have a gambling problem.

•    Are you secretive about your gambling? – Nothing wrong with a little gambling, especially if you can afford it. One of the first signs there might be a problem is lying about how much you gamble or being secretive about the actual act of gambling.

•    Do you have control issues? – Do you find it hard to walk away from a table or do you continue gambling until you’ve lost your last dollar? Typically, a person that spends down to their last dollar or plays for hours and hours might have a problem.

•    Do you have the money to gamble? – One of the truly significant signs that you have a gambling problem is you are mortgaging your financial future to continue this activity. If you start borrowing money from other people or withdraw money from a credit card, then it’s a safe bet to say that you have an addiction to gambling.

Gambling and betting can be a fun and entertaining way to spend a few hours while out of town or on vacation. If this activity turns into a problem, then it’s likely you have an addiction.

Online Gambling Scams

Online gambling is still a relatively new industry and therefore does not have extensive monitoring or regulations. Scams are prevalent, and there are almost as many scam sites as legitimate ones.

There are several things one should look for when considering a new online gambling site. For instance, watch the website address. If the website address is slightly different from the normal address or if the address contains a majority of numbers rather than words you should be weary of the site.

Be careful of new online gambling sites that promise large payouts or casino bonus in excess of 25 percent. Although these sites maybe legitimate, they can go out of business quickly leaving you with losses not winnings.

There are several things you can do to protect yourself though. Always investigate the site first. Double check contact information or contact the Internet Gaming Commission to verify the legitimacy of the site. Be wary of offers that seem too good to be true. Do not always trust a site simply because it has an IGC logo or customer reviews since these can be duplicated. Finally, when trying a new site, always make small bets, wait until you have received an actual payout from the site, and wait until you’re comfortable before placing larger bets.

There are almost as many scam sites as there are legitimate ones in the online gambling industry. Do some research on a new site and investigate news reviews or other articles that post information and background on new online casino websites. Protect yourself, and if you ever feel uncomfortable, do not give out personal or credit card information.

Indian Casinos Give Life to Poverty Stricken Reservations

If you’ve ever spent time or traveled across many of the Indian Reservations in the United States it becomes clear that jobs are not plentiful. The level of joblessness in many Reservations across the northern plains approaches 85 percent, and many are forced to live off of the Government.

While casinos are not typically allowed in states like South Dakota, laws have been created to allow Native American populations to have casinos on their own tribal lands, sovereign from the laws of the state and the U.S. Government.

The Rosebud Indian Casino in south-central South Dakota employs well over 100 people, making it the largest employer on the Rosebud Reservation. The Rosebud Casino, located just north of the Nebraska/South Dakota border attracts ranchers from northern Nebraska and truckers and other travelers making their way across U.S. Highway 20. While the profits of this casino are not overwhelming, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe does generate income from this property that is used for all measures of activities within the tribe.

Other casinos across the northern plains are doing quite well. The Shakopee – Mdewakanton Indian Reservation’s casino, Mystic Lake Casino, is located very close to Minneapolis/St. Paul in Minnesota. While gambling is illegal in Minnesota, the close proximity to a major metropolitan location makes the Mystic Lake Casinos thrive with bustling activity just about every day of the week.

While the debate over Indian Casinos is a long one, many of these tribal organizations use the funds generated to send their tribal members to college, or to pay for fuel and heat during the long winter months.
